Penneys’ Kilkenny Store Transformed with €2 Million Refurbishment
Penneys has unveiled its newly renovated store in the Market Cross Shopping Centre, Kilkenny City, just in time for the Christmas season. The store, which first opened in September 1994, recently celebrated its 30th anniversary. The €2 million refurbishment is part of a larger €250 million investment programme aimed at upgrading Penneys’ stores across Ireland.
The revamped Kilkenny outlet now features six self-checkout tills in addition to traditional served tills, offering customers more convenience and reducing queue times. The renovation also includes new fittings, fixtures, an upgraded LED lighting system, and newly launched product ranges.
The store employs 60 people, including long-time staff members Aileen Watters and Breda Kane, who have been with the store since its opening. The refurbishment aligns with Penneys’ refreshed brand look and enhances the shopping experience for its customers.
