Major funding boost announced for new Kilkenny museum

Funding for the project was secured during the unveiling of Fáilte Ireland’s five-year strategic plan for tourism growth in Kilkenny, which took place at St Canice’s Cathedral on Tuesday, April 30.

Paul Kelly, the CEO of Fáilte Ireland, announced the investment for the upcoming museum, highlighting its future role as a major attraction in Kilkenny City and a pivotal site along the Medieval Mile.

Kilkenny County Council’s Cathaoirleach, Cllr Michael Doyle, informed attendees that construction of the new facility is slated to start in June this year, with an anticipated opening date set for June 2026.
